LEGO Minifigures Series 26 Space QR Box Codes Identification and Weight Guide

Great news for those of you very excited for the launch of the LEGO Minifigures Series 26 coming on 1 May 2024* as LEGO has made it even easier to identify the contents of each blind box thanks to scannable QR Codes!

*Australia and New Zealand gets them in June 2024… a month late as usual.

Once again, there’s no need to ransack and tear open LEGO Minifigure Boxes any more, or even resort to weighing as it seems that all new batches of Series 26 Space now have the large scannable codes printed on the boxes!

I’ve been able to independently verify the accuracy of the codes thanks to a couple of helpful readers, and also through two full sets that LEGO sent me for my upcoming review, so without further ado, here’s the best way to find the minifigures you want in LEGO Minifigures Series 26!

Using the Jay’s Brick Blog Minifig Scanner

As part of the new site redesign, I’ve developed my very own LEGO Minifig Scanner which will help you identify the contents of the boxes, wherever you are in the world.

For easy access, you can access the Minifig Scanner via this link, or if you type in minifigscanner.com into your browser which will redirect you to the tool.

It’s completely free to use, works on both Android and Apple devices, and you don’t need to download any apps as it natively uses the camera on your device via your browser.

All you have to do is activate the scanner, and point it at the large QR codes printed at the bottom of each box of LEGO Minifigures Series 26.

Try to get in as close as you can, and ensure that the QR code is in focus for the scan to work. I also recommend obscuring the barcode with your finger so it doesn’t accidentally scan it.

How to scan and read the CMF Series 26 Codes using a QR Code/Barcode Scanner

Content here has been replicated from the Series 25 Guide, so this should all be the same. What’s different is that there seems to be no smaller Data Matrix Codes for Series 26 onwards, which is good news!

The secret lies in the QR codes (aka Data Matrix codes) found at the bottom of the boxes, to the right of the barcode.

You’ll need an app (some phone cameras do this natively) that allows you to scan QR Codes (any free QR Code Scanner App will do), which will spit out some codes, or for a much simpler alternative, use the Jay’s Brick Blog Minifg Scanner which has now been updated to scan both US and EU versions of LEGO Minifigures Series 26 boxes!

It’s completely free to use, works on both Android and Apple devices, and you don’t need to download any apps as it natively uses the camera on your device via your browser.

If you’re using a standard Barcode Scanner app to read the Data Matrix code, the first 7-digit code will now help you identify the minifigure inside each box, BUT it also depends on where your LEGO Minifigures were manufactured in.

In the 2nd series (also the same as the printed code beneath the QR code), you’ll notice that the 5-character code should either have an S or R in the 4th position. This denotes factory where the Minifigures were manufactured and packed in.

R = Mexico, which should apply to minifigures sold in the USA, Canada and possibly Latin/South America.

S = Czech Republic, which should apply to minifigures sold in the UK, EU.

See below for the codes and which minifigures they correspond with. Sequentially, the EU codes seem to be one number ahead of the Mexico codes.

Technology can sometimes be iffy, and if there’s any issues with reading the QR codes, or if the tool is buggy, you can always still resort to weighing the minifigures to help determine what’s inside.

I really recommend scanning and/or matching the codes as they’re just so much more reliable as the weights can fluctuate due to differences in cardboard stock or the adhesives used to stick the box together.

I weighed two different sets of Series 26 and these are the averages I arrived at!
