B2C MEMBERSHIP
As a producer, if you are placing household luminaires on the market you will be required to record and report the total weight placed each quarter to Lumicom.
From the 1st January 2019 all luminaires are now classified as in scope.
Since this change in legislation all household B2C lighting equipment is now reportable under category 5 (lighting equipment) whereas, prior to this date all household luminaries and decorative lighting were deemed out of scope.
An outline of the main principles to ensure a producer is accessing and classifying their EEE and WEEE as either B2C, B2B or dual use are:
- What is the products design, specification and function? This will determine whether the product is specifically designed for household or non-household use. This assessment will be required of each individual product.
- Report products designed for household and non-household use (also referenced as dual use) as B2C.
- What are the design attributes that could show if a product is for non-household use only, some keys components are:
- Durability, construction and material specification
- Performance
- Size and weight
- Power supply and voltage
*Lamps are simpler to classify being that they are considered B2C with the exception of lamps for stadium lighting, cinema projector lamps and any lamps solely designed for industrial/ commercial applications*
B2C pricing structure is based solely on the percentage of market value and a recycling target set by DEFRA each year.
