You can use the blank shopping list for multiple purposes if you use the Word version. For example, say you need to go into a few stores in a mall and get different items from each store. Change the names of the categories to the names of the stores and list the items you need from each store.

If you want to edit the categories, then select the Word or Excel version. The PDF format is more useful when you want to use the template as-is.

How to Add an Item to the List

1. You can use our grocery list maker to add an item to the list before you print it. Select the grocery shopping list template that you want to use from the selection above.
2. Click on the “A” icon to add text.
3. Type the name of the product that you want to add.
4. Move the product to the relevant section.
5. Download the grocery shopping list and store it somewhere where you will find it in the future.
6. Print a copy of the blank list.
7. Mark the groceries you want to buy each time you go shopping.

Grocery List Template Google Docs

Most of the templates on this site have a version you can open with Google Docs or Google Sheets. If they don’t, then follow the instructions below.

You can use Google Docs to open and edit the Microsoft Word versions or Google Sheets to open and edit the Excel versions of the grocery templates.

How to use the shopping lists with Google Docs

1. Download the grocery list template you want to use as a Word document.
2. Log in to your Google account from any browser.
3. Go to docs.google.com.
4. Open the Word document you previously downloaded.
5. Edit and make any changes you want to make.
6. Save your personalized grocery list to your Google Drive cloud.
7. You can download or email copies of your grocery list to keep for times you are not connected to the internet.
8. You can download your Google doc as a Word document so it has a standard Word extension (.docx). You can also download it with the following extensions: ODT, PDF, RTF, HTML, TXT, EPUB.

To create a Google Sheets grocery list template, the process is the same as described above, excel you use the Excel version instead of the Word version.

How to share your shopping list with Google Docs or Google Sheets

1. You might need to share your shopping list with your spouse, roommates, or kids. Google Docs will enable you to do this. You can invite them directly from your Google doc or send them a link to access your checklist.
2. You can even see them editing your list in real-time. You can chat with each other — right on your list — about the items they want to add to your checklist.
3. When you’re in Google’s “Suggesting” mode, all the changes they make to your lists are merely suggestions. Once you choose to accept their additions, they will be added to your checklist.
4. If someone deletes part of your grocery list, you will see the edited items that have been deleted.
