Thoughful fun for the youngest viewers

Uki is my 2 year-old son's favourite thing to watch on TV (actually, the only one he's interested in). The cute and expressive little animals (an insect, rabbit, duck and so on), the classical music that mirrors the feelings of the characters and the stories that are easy for a young child to relate to (playing with a ball, reading a book, being sad and happy again) all contribute to catching his interest.
As a parent, I also enjoy Uki. It is humourous and thoughtful, instead of loud and busy, as most children's programmes are. Each episode is only five minutes long, which means my son does not lose interest until the end. The systematic way in which the episodes are built up is very pedagogical and there is time for the child to wonder and experience the simple action without being rushed. I also really like the fact that the animals in Uki are not marked as male or female - they are just little animals. An interesting aspect of Uki is that there is no dialogue, which actually makes it perfect for talking to your child about what happens in a way that suits your child's language skills and in her/his mother tongue.

This dvd is fine for young babies to keep them occupied but as no one speaks in the dvd iv stopped my 2year old from watching it as iv found other cartoon dvds have helped my son speak alot more! But it is nice to see this on dvd being from show me show me im sure kids will like it but does get abit boring after they have watched once!

This is my two year old son's favourite - he is constantly asking to watch 'hedgehog one' or 'rabbit one'. The programme contains lovely animal characters who have lots of fun playing along with Uki and each episode also includes puzzles and problem solving in the story so they actually manage to be enjoyable and educational, without being overtly so. Each episode is fairly short which suits toddler attention spans and allows us to watch tv together in small doses. Worth every penny - roll on volume two!

Uki is the little 5 minute show that runs on Show me Show me on Cbeebies. My 2 year old daughter loves it but only 5mins per day wasnt enough for her! So when I saw the dvd advertised on one of her magazines I knew I had to get it her for Christmas. Since she has recieved it she has watched it and is amazed that there is a new episiode on after the previous one finishes! Great purchase and very happy.

This is a great DVD for young children. The Uki character, and indeed all of the other characters in the stories, are very gentle and well observed. Each episode is quite short but they are so well thought out that the story is never lost. I'd highly recommend this DVD to anyone who's child has been watching the Uki animations on CBeebies "Show Me Show Me".

Die Serie selber läuft 5 Minuten, handelt von einen Fantasiewesen das kleine Abenteuer mit seinen Freunden bestreitet. Es wird in der Serie nicht gesprochen, alle Handlungen werden mit Geräusche u. Musik untermalt. Ist wirklich total nett gemacht u. es gibt immer so eine kleine Szene wo was gelernt wird (Memory-Kartenspiel, Schiebepuzzel). Wichtig ist: Die Serien wurde wirklich nur für Kleinkinder gemacht bis ca. 4 Jahren.
