Class 466 'Networker' Profile and Models

The Class 466 EMUs were built between 1993 and 1994 by聽Metro-Cammell聽in聽Washwood Heath, for the聽Network SouthEast聽sector of聽British Rail.聽As part of the聽privatisation of British Rail, all were sold to聽Angel Trains.聽They were operated by Network SouthEast until 1997, and then by聽Connex South Eastern聽until 2003,聽South Eastern Trains聽until 2006 and聽Southeastern聽to the present day.聽Class 466 units operate in multiple with聽Class 465s. They were historically used as individual units on rural routes, mainly the聽Sheerness Line聽between聽Sittingbourne聽and聽Sheerness. However, owing to their non-compliance with accessibility standards, since 1 January 2021 they may only run coupled to a Class 465. Some are scheduled to be replaced by聽Class 707s,聽with two hauled to聽Worksop聽for store by聽Harry Needle Railroad Company聽in June 2021. (Information provided via Wikipedia) |
