The FN 509 Tactical Wins Handgun of the Year from NASGW-POMA

The newly released FN 509 Tactical wins Handgun of the Year at the NASGW Expo Awards Dinner earlier this month. The Awards Dinner came at the conclusion of the annual NASGW Annual Meeting held in Pittsburgh.

We had a chance to take some of the first shots through the FN 509 Tactical earlier this year and feel that the newest iteration of the FN 509 is well deserving of the honors.

The FN 509 Tactical is as close as you can get to the MHS submission as one can get with some noticeable improvements like an improved slide release, a larger magazine release, a threaded barrel, and the all-new FN Low-Profile Optics Mounting System.

The FN 509 Tactical carries an MSRP of $1,049 but can be found with street prices around $800. Learn more on the FN America website.

FN America, LLC is pleased to announce that the FN 509® Tactical, released in July, has won the 2018 NASGW-POMA Caliber Award for Handgun of Year. The FN 509 Tactical is a 9mm striker-fired pistol that is inspired by FN’s submission to the U.S. Army’s MHS program. The National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW), in partnership with the Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA), chose the top products in six categories including Handgun of the Year, for Caliber Awards. Based on the results of an independent panel of 18 industry judges, FN was selected as the winner in the Handgun of the Year category.

To qualify, manufacturers needed to be a NASGW member in good standing, the product must have been publicly released between the end of last year’s NASGW Expo and the beginning of this year’s Expo, and submission of the products was required through the NASGW Expo New Product Showcase.
