Professional Expertise
James Repking is the general counsel and executive vice president of Savills North America. He leads the legal department which partners with and advises management on all aspects of Savills business. This includes mergers and acquisitions, strategic business development pursuits, and reviewing contracts and licensing related to brokerage, and other business lines.
Prior to joining Savills, James had over 20 years of experience within the real estate industry, both as part of in-house legal departments and at law firms. James worked for 10 years within the legal department of CBRE. Prior to that, James was a land use attorney specializing in planning, zoning, and environmental law at the law firms of Latham & Watkins and Cox, Castle & Nicholson. His practice included both obtaining entitlements and defending those entitlements in court. His litigation practice resulted in multiple reported decisions before the California Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.
Awards, Achievements and Activities
James is a member of the UC Berkeley and UC Santa Barbara alumni associations, as well as a member of the Lesbian & Gay Real Estate Group (LGREG). James has lectured on real estate development and other topics through the Lorman Educational Service and other providers. James previously served as a member of the Los Angeles Land Use Committee of the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
