BMW R18 cruiser bike launched in India; priced at INR 18.90 Lakh

The First Edition variant of BMW R18 will come with chrome accents running all around the premium cruiser, Blackstorm metallic paint scheme and a ‘First Edition’ badging on the seat. Similarly, the First Edition variant will come with many cosmetic updates when compared to the standard variant. But, the additional features on offer with the First Edition will be hill-start assist, cornering headlamps and heated grips.

Powered by a 1802cc, air/oil cooled engine, BMW R18 produces 91BHP of power. However, the peak torque churned out from this engine is around 158Nm. The BMW R18 cruiser bike can do 0-100kmph in just 4.8 seconds and the top speed is limited to 180kmph. It will also get three ride modes on offer – Rain, Rock and Roll replacing the conventional Rain, Road and Sport. Meanwhile, other safety features such as the ABS, Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and engine drag torque control comes as standard.

The most exciting part about the BMW R18 is the reverse gear that draws power from an electric motor. BMW Motorrad has offered the reverse gear on the BMW R18 because of its massive 345kgs weight. Meanwhile, the cruiser bike comes with telescopic fork at the front and catilever strut at the rear for the suspension duties. For higher stability and proper braking performance BMW R18 comes with twin disc brakes at the front and single disc at the rear. The fuel tank capacity of the BMW R 18 is somewhere around 16 litres.

BMW in India will rival the Halrey Davidson Bobber bikes and the Triumph Rocket 3 GT.
